Original GM Brakes
Genuine GM brakes are the most dependable way to slow your vehicle and bring it to a full stop. Some brake systems are electromagnetic, while others are servo or mechanical. Most car and truck brakes, however, are hydraulic. Hydraulic brakes come in two types: disc and drum. How brakes work is simple. When you press your brake pedal, your car adds mechanical stopping power. A brake booster or brake servo amplifies it. Your vehicle decelerates and halts. During all this, your brake master cylinder pushes hydraulic brake fluid through the entire braking system via a network of brake hoses and lines. This puts force on all four tires and produces friction between your brake pads and brake rotors. There are hundreds more brake parts that take part in the process, too. They include everything from brake calipers and pistons to brake shoes. There's even a control module for your anti-lock brake system (ABS), not to mention components like wheel speed sensors. Over time, they all wear and break down. What are the signs of brake failure? Your car pulling to the side, a soft, low, or slowly lowering brake pedal, a shuddering vibration, squeals, and screeches are all indicators. So is a brake or ABS warning light on the dash and so are longer stopping times, grinding, hissing, and loss of brake grip. If you experience these symptoms, have your brakes inspected by a mechanic or service center. You can order the OEM brakes and brake parts they recommend for your GM car or truck right from us!
