Original GM Radiator & Cooling Parts
availability
Radiators dissipate heat by fanning the hot coolant pushed through your engine. This helps prevent overheating. How do radiators work? Most consist of core blocks with flat aluminum tubes with fins. As coolant flows from their inlets to outlets, it's put under pressure by a cap. This maximizes the heat the coolant can absorb. The fins then release heat into the air. Some radiators feature extra fins called turbulators. These increase heat dissipation even further. Many radiators also feature side tanks that hold transmission coolers, which trade heat with the coolant instead of dispersing it into the air. They help cool your transmission. Over time, strange engine noises, overheats, the syrupy smell of ethylene glycol, and discolored or built-up coolant can be signs of radiator problems. So can leaking antifreeze, a temperature gauge that reads high, and exterior fin damage. You can have trouble shifting if you've got a transmission cooler, because of contaminated transmission fluid. That indicates a crack or another system fault. Even a malfunctioning HVAC system can be telling. If you're wondering whether you're due for a radiator replacement, don't only look for these signs. Be sure to check your GM vehicle owner's manual and its maintenance schedule also. Then, when it's time to take care of the project, check out our selection of genuine GM radiators and cooling parts and place your order. We'll ship to you in no time!
